With generous support from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation and the Institute for Research in the Social Sciences (IRiSS) at Stanford, and in collaboration with our partners at Harvard, we have collected precinct-level election results for a variety of elections in all U.S. states.  In all states except Oregon, we have been able to geo-reference these data, allowing users to map the results and link them with block-group-level census data.  The data and documentation can be downloaded from the Harvard Election Data Archive.

In collaboration with our friends at ESRI, we have used these data to create an interactive online visualization tool called the Stanford Election Atlas.   For more documentation, click here.

We intend to enhance the online map and data archive to include time series historical data in several states as well as updated data covering the elections of 2010 and 2012.

A longer-term goal is to produce similar data and interactive online maps for a variety of additional countries.
