Teaching and Training

We offer a broad project-based undergraduate class called “Spatial Approaches to Social Science.”  Click here to see a recent syllabus.

This class has led to a number of interesting undergraduate and MA theses on a wide range of topics and prepared a number of students for careers involving spatial analysis.

We also offer a graduate seminar entitled “Politics and Geography.”  Click here to see a recent syllabus.  This course has become a popular class for students in American and comparative politics as well as international relations, and has given rise to several dissertations in recent years.

We occasionally offer short courses and workshops on specific topics, and collaborate with Branner Library to offer a variety of training opportunities.

A good source for information about spatial analysis and GIS training opportunities at Stanford is the Spatial and GIS Special Interest Group

Another good source is Stanford’s Geospatial Training Site.
